upućuju i dolaze li pacijenti s pripadajućom medicinskom dokumentacijom.
dokumentaciju.
Rezultati: Ukupan broj ispitanika bio je 343. U radu je dokazana statistički značajna razlika u
spolu ispitanika (χ
2=32; p<0,001), bilo je 224 (65%) žene i 119 (35%) muškaraca. Medijan
životne dobi iznosio je 60 godina (min-maks:18-85), a žene i muškarci nisu se statistički
razlikovali prema dobi (Z=0,046; p=0,963). Dokazana je i statistički značajna razlika u
posjedovanju medicinske dokumentacije (χ
2=4,9;
a njihov široki raspon doprinosi dugim listama čekanja.
dokumentaciju.
Abstract (english) Aim of the study: Aim of the study was to research the justification of indications, determine
the most common disorder for which the patients were sent to electromyoneurography,
determine the specialty of the referring doctors and do the patients bring appropriate medical
documentation.
Subjects and methods: This study was conducted in the Department of the neurology at
University Hospital of Split in the period from 1.2.2023 to 31.3.2023. Study involved 343
patients. The collected data included gender, age, the diagnosis for which the patients come for
the examination and information on whether the patients have the appropriate medical
documentation with them.
Results: There were a total of 343 patients. Research has proven a statistically significant
difference involving gender of the patients (χ
2=32; p<0,001) as there were 224 (65%) women
and 119 (35%) men. The median age was 60 years (min-max:18-85), and women and men did
not differ statistically by age (Z=0,046; p=0,963). The study also proves a statistically
significant difference regarding the possession of the appropriate medical documentation
(χ
2=21; p<0,001) since there were 1.6 times more of those without the documentation
compared to those with medical documentation. General practitioners referred 192 (56%)
patients for examination, while specialists referred 151 (44%) patients (χ
2=4,9; p=0,027).
Amongst those specialists, neurologists referred the largest number of patients for examination
(43%). There were a total of 43 diagnoses for which the patients were sent for examination.
Among those 43 diagnoses, 7 of them were the most common, and because of them, 267
patients were referred for examination. All indications justified the examination. The most
common diagnosis for which the patients were referred for examination was back pain (M54).
Conclusions: The indications for which the patients were sent for electromyoneurography
were justified, and their wide range contributes to long waiting lists. The most common
diagnosis for which the patients were referred for examination was back pain. General
practitioners referred the largest number of patients for examination, and most of them did not
bring the necessary medical documentation upon their arrival.
