Objectives: The aim of the research was to provide an overview of previous research and findings about Nin mud (peloid) and, based on a survey of patients who performed balneotherapy, to study their general demographic characteristics, their satisfaction with the performed exercises and the effectiveness of the therapy. Materials and methods: This is a cross-sectional study, the subjects of which were patients who performed balneotherapy in the Nin lagoon in August and September of 2022. The results are based on a survey that includes painDETECT questionnaire, and have been statistically processed in JASP v.0.014 drogram. (JASP Team, 2020, Amsterdam, Netherlands). Results: 109 respondents participated in this research, slightly more women (64,2%) than men. Almost everyone was satisfied with the results of the physical therapy performed (50,0% fully satisfied, 46,2% satisfied) and would recommend pelotherapy to others with similar symptoms (98,2%). Also, a large number of participants with previous experience in balneotherapy claim to have reduced the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs after pelotherapy (74,0%). In addition, we have shown that this group of respondents is more physically active than the Croatian average, and that those who are physically active during the year had lower perceived average pain in the last four weeks on the visual analog pain scale compared to those who are not physically active (respondents who do not engage in physical activity, more often stated strong perceived average pain in the last four weeks (n=17, 16,0%) compared to physically active subjects (n=8, 7,5%). We have proven that patients with previous balneotherapy experience show lower estimates of the strongest pain in the last four weeks compared to the patients for whom this was the first year of balneotherapy (n=22, 73,3%) of respondents who have no experience of balneotherapy marked their strongest pain in the last four weeks as severe, while severe pain was indicated by only (n=36, 45,6%) of subjects with experience in balneotherapy). Conclusion: With this research, we have shown the general profile and attitudes of patients on Nin mud balneotherapy. The majority were women, most often between the ages of 60 and 69, who expressed mostly positive attitudes regarding the implementation and effects of balneotherapy. In future potential research aimed at examining the effectiveness of pelotherapy and the quality of performed balneotherapy, a group of patients with similar symptoms and the same diagnosis should be tested and parameters such as range of motion, morning stiffness, 58 flexibility as well as laboratory pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory parameters should be monitored in order to obtain as objective conclusions as possible.
