Abstract
Cilj istraživanja: Utvrditi psihosocijalni utjecaj dentalne estetike na ortodontske pacijente u dobi od 12 do 18 godina. Materijali i metode: U ovom istraživanju je sudjelovalo ukupno 140 pacijenata u dobi od 12 do 18 godina koji su u terapiji fiksnom ortodontskom napravom na Odjelu ortodoncije Stomatološke poliklinike u Splitu. Kako bismo procijenili psihosocijalni utjecaj dentalne estetike na ortodontske pacijente koristili smo PIDAQ upitnik. Rezultati: Od ukupnog broja ispitanika (140) u našem istraživanju, njih 78 (55,7 %) su bili pacijenti ženskog spola, dok je njih 62 (44,3 %) bilo muškog spola. Među ispitanicima i ženskog i muškog spola najviše je bilo osamnaestogodišnjaka (25,7%), a najmanje dvanaestogodišnjaka (6,4%). Najveći broj ispitanika (65,7%) ima šifru dijagnoze broj 7 (distopija zuba > 3 mm). Psihosocijalni utjecaj dentalne estetike veći je kod osoba ženskog spola nego kod osoba muškog spola u svim kategorijama PIDAQ upitnika (dentalno samopouzdanje, socijalni utjecaj, psihološki utjecaj, estetska zabrinutost) i u konačnom PIDAQ skoru. Rezultati su pokazali da nema povezanosti između kategorija PIDAQ upitnika i vrste anomalije, kao ni između sumarnog PIDAQ skora i vrste anomalije. Zaključak: Dentalna estetika ima značajan psihosocijalni utjecaj na ortodontske pacijente u dobi od 12 do 18 godina. Psihosocijalni utjecaj dentalne estetike je izraženiji kod osoba ženskog spola. Nema povezanosti između sumarnog PIDAQ skora i vrste ortodontske anomalije.
Abstract (english)
Objective: To assess the psychosocial impact of dental aesthetics on orthodontic patients aged 12 to 18 years. Materials and methods: A total of 140 patients between the age of 12 and 18 years, treated with fixed orthodontic appliance at the Department of Orthodontics in Dental polyclinic in Split, participated in this study. To determine the psychosocial impact of dental aesthetics in orthodontic patients, the PIDAQ questionnaire was used. Results: Out of the total number of participants in this study (140), 78 (55,7%) were female and 62 (44,3%) were male. Most of the subjects, both female and male, were at the age of 18 (25,7%), and least of them were at the age of 12 years (6,4%). Most of the participants (65,7%) had the diagnosis number 7 (tooth dystopia > 3 mm). Psychosocial impact of dental aesthetics is higher in female subjects than in male subjects in all the PIDAQ categories (dental self-confidence, social impact, psychological impact, aesthetic concern) and in total PIDAQ score. There is no correlation between the diagnosis of orthodontic anomalies and the categories of PIDAQ, and no correlation between the diagnosis of orthodontic anomalies and the summed PIDAQ score. Conclusion: Dental aesthetics has a significant psychosocial impact on orthodontic patients aged 12 to 18 years. Psychosocial impact of dental aesthetics is higher in female subjects. There is no correlation between the summed PIDAQ score and the diagnosis of orthodontic anomalies.
