Abstract Ciljevi:
Materijali i metode:
Za potrebe istraživanja pretražili smo bazu Cochraneovih sustavnih pregleda iz područja implantoprotetike objavljenih unutar Cochraneove uredničke skupine za oralno zdravlje (engl. Cochrane Oral health Group, COHG).
Abstract (english) Objectives:
The aim of this research was to analyze outcomes in RCTs included in Cochrane systematic reviews, map different outcomes and analyze the frequency of use of certain outcomes in researches in the field of implant prosthetics.
Materials and methods:
For research purposes, we searched the database of Cochrane systematic reviews in the field of implant prosthetics published within the Cochrane Oral Health Group (COHG). We analyzed RCTs from each systematic review and extracted data on the main author, year of publication, number of participants in the study, health status of the participants, country where the study was conducted, and all measured outcomes. Outcomes were then categorized based on similar features. The data were then analyzed using Microsoft Excel 2019.
Results:
A total of 14 systematic reviews were found that are in any way related to the topic of implant prosthetics, of which 10 reviews, with a total of 101 RCTs published in the time period from 1995 to 2017, were included in this research. Most RCTs, 36 of them, were conducted in Italy, and the total number of subjects was 4,233. By analyzing the outcomes in separate studies, we came to a total of 69 different outcomes, which we divided into 7 categories. The most commonly measured outcome was the success/failure of the implant, which appeared in 85 studies, and the results most often showed a one-year follow-up. In addition, the observed outcomes were related to complications, the health of soft tissues and bones, and the opinions of the doctor and the patient himself. A total of 23 outcomes were observed in only one study.
Conclusions:
Research in implant prosthetics includes a large number of different outcomes, of which the most frequently measured outcome was implant success/failure. The number and nature of outcomes vary within different studies, and studies also define the same outcomes differently and use different time periods to monitor them.
