Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate familiarity and availability of new psychoactive substance and to deterime prevalence of using new psychoactive substances, with comparison to classical drugs and way they were obtained.Materials and methods: Self reporting online survey. Acquired data was processed, described and compared with similar studies in Croatia and abroad. Results: Great number of tested was not familiar with subject of new psychoactive substances. Results show that more people and users consider Internet and “smart shops” easiest way to obtain new psychoactive drugs. Prevalence of synthetic cannabinoids is 8%, synthetic chatinnones 3.5% and all new psychoactive substances together 13.5%. Main group of users are males from 18-24 years old who consume classical drugs, most often marijuana. Furthermore, most people acquire new psychoactive substances from friends and drug dealers, there are also users obtaining it from “smart shops” and Internet. Conclusion: Perception of avilability to obtain new psychoactive drugs on Internet and “smart shops” is increasing. New psychoactive drugs have similar prevalence in Croatia as in other European countries. Furthermore, growth of using prevalence is expected with need for strategic lawmaking, health and education plan for countering.
