Objectives: To establish patterns of behavior and frequency of physical activity in the population of the wider area of the city of Split. Materials and methods: The study was conducted on a sample of subjects involved in the project 10,001 Dalmatian who are involved in research in the area of the city of Split. The only criterion for inclusion was that the person is an adult, and subjects were mainly in good medical condition. With the implementation of a series of examinations, the subjects also answered several questionnaires, including the questionnaire about physical activity. Results: This research found that there is a statistically significant difference in the perception of physical activity between men and women, with more pronounced perceptions of heavier work among women. Active participation in sports is most common among younger age groups, indicating the occurrence of secondary waves in middle age. Testing of selected anthropological and clinical evidence has indicated a strong association between physical activity and height, body weight and waist circumference, provided that there was no correlation with the head circumference, bone density and diastolic pressures. Education and social status were not associated with physical activity. Conclusions: There is a significant difference in physical activity between men and women in the population of the wider area of the city of Split. Men are more likely to exercise than women, as well as physical activity is most common among younger age groups. Of all the body measurements, body height is the most important predictor of exercise; higher people exercise more. Socioeconomic status has no effect on physical activity.
