Objectives: Main goal of this research was to determine the knowledge of students of Dental Medicine at School of Medicine, University of Split on the impact of osteoporosis on oral health. Materials and methods: In this research, a total of 59 students of the Study of Dental Medicine of School of Medicine in Split were examined, of which 24 students of the 5th year and 35 students of the 6th year of the Study. The research was conducted using a questionnaire built and shared via the Google Form. The questionnaire consisted of four parts. The first part of the questionnaire consisted of questions related to the year of study. The second part of the questionnaire consisted of questions about the relationship between osteoporosis and oral health. The third part of the questionnaire consisted of questions about knowledge of osteoporosis. The fourth part of the questionnaire consisted of questions about knowledge of the impact of osteoporosis therapy on oral health. MedCalc and Microsoft Excel were used in the statistical inference, and the Chi2 test was used to compare the differences in the knowledge of 5th and 6th year students. The level of statistical significance was set at P <0.05. Results: Students showed poor knowledge of the association between osteoporosis and oral health. Only 12.5% of 5th year students and 11.4% of 6th year students knew that osteoporosis did not harm existing implants or crowns. 67% of 5th year students and 68.6% of 6th year students think that osteoporosis is a contraindication for implant placement. Students showed poor knowledge of the diagnosis of osteoporosis, where only 16.6% of 5th year students and 5.7% of 6th year students believe that the diagnosis of osteoporosis can be made based on radiographs of the bones. Excluding the diagnosis of osteoporosis, students showed good knowledge in other statements (83.3% - 100%). Given their knowledge of the impact of osteoporosis drugs on oral health, students showed a mediocre level of knowledge. 66.7% of 5th year students and 62.9% of 6th year students correctly chose to recommend taking osteoporosis medication before implant placement or other oral surgery. While only half of the students correctly concluded that osteoporosis therapy does not cause gum withdrawal. Conclusions: Regarding questions about the link between osteoporosis and oral health, students in both years showed poor knowledge about the impact of osteoporosis on implants and crowns. Given their knowledge of the impact of osteoporosis therapy on oral health, students showed a mediocre level of knowledge. There is no difference in the knowledge and attitudes of dental students of the fifth and sixth year of study and there is a need to introduce additional education on this topic in the teaching of future dental medicine doctors.
