Objectives: The main aim of this thesis was to investigate the impact of the Nottingham hip fracture score on 30-day mortality in patients with hip fracture. Secondary objectives were to investigate the time elapsed from the admission of patients with hip fracture to surgery and to investigate whether there is an association between the time elapsed from admission to surgery with mortality. Subjects and methods: The research include a total of 40 respondents, of which 12 are men and 28 are women. Out of a total of 40 subjects, 21 subjects were operated on for femoral neck fractures, while 19 subjects were operated on for femoral neck fractures. For each subject, clinical and radiological data collected from electronic medical histories of patients of interest at the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of University Hospital of Split were taken. Data of interest were age, sex, hemoglobin value at admission, information on stay in a nursing home, comorbidities and malignancies present. A mental ability test (mini mental state examination test) was performed on each subject. Results: Our research showed a statistically significant impact of the Nottingham hip fracture score on 30-day mortality (P=0,004). Also, no statistically significant association between the time elapsed from admission to surgery and mortality was proven (P=0,582). Conclusions: The group of patients with NHFS 5 and more have a higher 30-day mortality than the group of patients with NHFS 0 to 4. There is no statistically significant association between 30-day mortality in patients with hip fracture and the time elapsed from admission to surgery.
